David Rouse contributed a chapter on green infrastructure and resilience in planning practice to The Routledge Handbook of Urban Resilience, published in early 2020. Edited by Michael Burayidi, Adriana Allen, John Twigg, and Christine Wamsler, the Handbook provides a summary of state-of-the-art thinking on different approaches, tools, and methodologies for understanding resilience in urban and international contexts. As described by the editors, “David Rouse discusses how green infrastructure can help a community reduce risk and build community resilience to different types of natural hazards at scales from the site and neighborhood to the city and region. The author identifies ways for incorporating green infrastructure into the different scales of planning including site plans, neighborhood plans, and regional plans, as well as processes such as long-range comprehensive plans and land use plans.”
